I’m Rui Yu, a cross-border expert and travel consultant based in China. With over 12 years of experience bridging the gap between Chinese technology and international users, you might be wondering: Why is a tech guy building a travel website? Here’s my story…

A Brief History

I have spent my entire career in the digital world. For the last 12 years, I worked for major software and SaaS companies, specifically focusing on “Cross-Border” sectors. My job was literally to help the rest of the world connect with Chinese products and platforms.

I spent over a decade analyzing data, understanding Western user habits, and seeing the friction points that happen when East meets West.

I saw the comments. I saw the confusion. I saw how terrified people were of the “Great Firewall” or the idea that their credit cards wouldn’t work.

Like many in the tech industry, I spent my life in an office, helping people virtually. But deep down, I realized I didn’t want to sit in a cubicle for the rest of my life. I wanted to use my skills to help people experience the real world – specifically, my world.

Me Today…

Fast forward to today, I have chosen the open road. I am now building this platform to be the ultimate “Fixer” for international travelers.

Why is this website different? Most travel blogs are written by tourists who spent two weeks in China. They can tell you the coffee was good, but they can’t tell you don’t stay at Hotel A, the construction noise next door is terrible right now or what to do when your Alipay account gets locked at 10 PM on a Tuesday.

My background in the tech industry gave me a unique superpower: Problem Solving. I look at travel not just as sightseeing, but as a system.

I know that right now, media reports make people ask, “Is China safe?” As a local, I can tell you: China is one of the safest countries on earth. But it is also one of the most misunderstood.

I want to help you plan your trip with confidence. Whether you are a backpacker or a luxury traveler, I want you to land in Beijing or Shanghai feeling like a local, not a confused tourist.

Let’s be honest – I treat this website as a business, not just a hobby. Why? Because maintaining up-to-date information on China requires full-time dedication. Policies change, apps update, and routes shift.

However, my integrity is not for sale.
